Ive been working hard out there, and I get laughs, but at my club, I introduce some very fabulous, talented comedians every week, so I have great respect for that. His martyr-like status often overshadows his many memorable SNL performances, and he possessed what the rest of the original cast lacked years of experience as a successful actor, playwright, and classically trained singer, and the suave energy of a seasoned Broadway star. But I should also comment that its a damned shame that Hollywood fucked up its whole system in the last 40 or 50 years, because theyre taxing everybody. If you know about the French Quarter, you should know about Storyville. By the time I got to Saturday Night Live, I had written two plays, one commissioned by the city of New York. It's the old saying, if somebody has to jab it's more than likely because they don't understand it or scared of it. For the last half of the '70s, Saturday Night Live was synonymous with drug culture. And he even let me do the scene on my own that shouldve required a stuntman. I had paid my dues. I know both of us were on cocaine a lot. But he also moonlights at a club somewhere down well, who knows where it is? GM: Yeah, I actually just put one out called Black Creole Chronicles.
